Elizabeth Markey is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), Nurse-Midwife (CNM), and specialist in Reproductive Psychiatry and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C).
With over 15 years of experience providing holistic care to women and families—from rural homebirths to high-risk hospital deliveries—Elizabeth has supported thousands of individuals through major life transitions, and has attended more than 1,000 births, including over 700 in Richmond.
Recognizing that mood and anxiety disorders are the most common complications of pregnancy (affecting up to 20% of women and 10% of men), Elizabeth was drawn to the field of Reproductive Psychiatry. Too often, individuals face long waitlists or encounter providers uncomfortable treating mental health concerns related to hormonal changes, pregnancy, lactation, or infertility. Elizabeth’s specialization bridges this critical gap in care.
Elizabeth is uniquely qualified and deeply committed to serving as the supportive referral for medication management and psychotherapy that many of her clients have sought. She is adept at providing trauma-informed and evidence-based treatment, and delivering compassionate care to diverse groups of people.
