Preparing for Your First Appointment

Arrive 20 minutes early if you have not completed your intake paperwork, or 10 minutes early if you have already submitted it.

Bring your insurance card and a valid ID (such as a Driver’s License, DMV ID, or Birth Certificate). This is required for identity verification due to new healthcare laws.

If you haven’t already, please make sure you have activated your MYIO Patient Portal account. We recommend that you download the MYIO app to your mobile device. All telehealth services can only be accessed through the MYIO Patient Portal. If you haven’t activated your account please contact our office for assistance.

During your first appointment, your provider will discuss the reasons you are seeking treatment, your goals, current symptoms, and relevant history. This conversation helps your provider fully understand your concerns, and they will then suggest treatment options that could best support you in reaching your goals.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible.

We look forward to partnering with you on your journey and helping you achieve your goals.

New Client FAQ

How much does a session cost?

Your out-of-pocket costs will depend on your insurance. During your first appointment, our office staff will verify your benefits and inform you of your co-pay or co-insurance amounts.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept most major insurance plans, though coverage may vary by provider. Generally, we accept:

  • Anthem/Beacon
  • Aetna
  • Cigna/Evernorth (for medication management services ONLY)
  • Humana (Commercial and Medicare)
  • Humana Military/Tricare
  • Optum/United Healthcare/United Behavioral Health
  • Medicare
  • Sentara

How long are the appointments?

Your initial evaluation will be approximately 50-55 minutes. Follow-up individual therapy sessions typically last 50-55 minutes but may be adjusted as clinically appropriate. Follow up medication management sessions typically last 15-30 minutes.

How often will I be seen?

The frequency of appointments is a clinical decision that will be made between you and your provider. Most therapy sessions occur weekly or bi-weekly. Most medication management sessions occur monthly at first and then can be titrated based on clinical appropriateness.

I work full-time. Can I be seen in the evenings or on weekends?

We understand the need for flexible scheduling. Early morning, late afternoon, and evening appointments are often in high demand. We do our best to accommodate scheduling preferences, but most of our availability will be between the hours of 9:00-4:00 Monday through Friday. Each provider sets their own schedule so please talk with your provider about your scheduling preferences.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes! We understand that telehealth services can be a valuable resource for many reasons so all of our providers offer telehealth services. However, there may be circumstances that require in-person appointments so please discuss these individualized options with your provider.

Do you have a patient portal?

Absolutely! In fact, we require that all clients sign up for the MYIO patient portal to help streamline care. Also, all of the telehealth services occur securely through the MYIO patient portal. The portal can be accessed via a computer or mobile device. Please click here to access the MYIO Help Guide https://www.valant.io/myio-help/
